BOOK REVIEW: Shadows by Paula Weston

As what I've said earlier, this book is something   that  I've won from a book giveaway. I was so thrilled to read it that I finished it less than 24 hours.
I'm such an addict. Yeah. That's me!
So here is my review..

Publication Date: July 2, 2012
Book Description (Goodreads):
It’s almost a year since Gaby Winters was in the car crash that killed her twin brother, Jude. Her body has healed in the sunshine of Pandanus Beach, but her grief is raw and constant. It doesn’t help that every night in her dreams she kills demons and other hell-spawn.

And then Rafa comes to town. Not only does he look exactly like the guy who’s been appearing in Gaby’s dreams—he claims a history with her brother that makes no sense. Gaby is forced to accept that what she thought she knew about herself and her life is only a shadow of the truth—and that the truth is more likely to be found in the shadows of her nightmares.

Who is Rafa? Who are the Rephaim? And most importantly, who can she trust?

AWESOME!READ IT!
Book Review:

You might say, it's no different from any other angel books, but I beg to disagree! I'll admit that I may be biased because I love angel books but this one is really good.

I love the fact that it's not focused on romance or on the love interest of the protagonist but rather on knowing the truth about Gaby's life. Yes, there's romance here and there but it's not overly important compared to other angel books such as the Fallen series, Hush Hush series, and the like.

I love that the flow of the story kept me interested that I wasted no time just to finish it. There were some fighting scenes which are expected to take part in an angel book.

For the characters, the author described each distinctly which made it easier for me to imagine and remember them. Each have a strong personality. But I have to warn you that there are alot of cursing which I was not comfortable at first because I have the tendency to remember them and then eventually say those words but I got used to it.

So anyway, I won't give much details so just read it! I know most of you are not fond of books about angels or demons but give this a try. You won't be disappointed.

BOOK REVIEW: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (Unearthly #1)

Publication Date: January 4, 2011
Book Description (Goodreads):
In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees...
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Book Review:
Since the Fallen Series, I've been really fond of angel books. There's something about them that always get my attention eventhough there are similarities between them. So, unearthly. I've been expecting a lot from this book because of the ratings I've seen other people gave. I didn't give a perfect 5 because I felt there's something lacking, or the thrill while reading it was not enough. I like the fact that the protagonist, Clara, already knows that she's an angel. Most of the paranormal books I've read is that there's always a part where true identity is unveiled as the story goes on. She's 1/4 angel and was given a purpose which she sees in her vision. She was too wrapped up in her purpose that she feels she is required to feel and do things. Until she gets to know Tucker, her bestfriend's (Wendy) brother. They have the hate-relationship at first bet eventually, she had gotten to know him which makes her feel just Clara, not Clara-the angel. Then there's the guy in her vision, Christian. He is described as someone who everyone will fall in love with, plus the good looks of course. But I'm not that interested in his character. From the beginning, I'm more into Tucker. Not much was revealed about him until near the end of the book.I love the twists of the story which makes it not totally predictable. It makes me think a lot of possibilities where the story might lead. I will look forward for it's sequel. Hopefully a better one. Still, this one's a fun read!
